IN CHARACTER
CHARACTER: Grace "G.G." Gibson
CANON: OC (original universe)
AGE: 23
DESCRIPTION: Thin, pale, average height human woman with long brown hair and enormous brown eyes that always seem slightly sunken/tired and never seem to blink as often as they should. Pretty features, in an unremarkable way, though there is something nonspecifically unnerving about her that would make one hesitate to call her attractive. Always wears long sleeves, shows minimal skin, unless she is absolutely certain she's alone. Prefers high-heeled shoes (because she doesn't have to walk in them.)
Most people would not be able to see them, but Grace has some scarring from a car accident when she was nearly sixteen. Smaller individual scars at her left collarbone, shoulder and hip from hardware that had been holding her bones together that has since been removed, and one large, ugly scar that stretches from above her right thigh, curving around her bellybutton, up her stomach and chest, ending in a thin scar between her breasts. It's nearing a decade old now so it is not as angry-looking as it once was, but the skin around the thick scar tissue is puckered and uneven, and bears markings from sutures and attempts at cosmetic correction. Anyone with significant medical experience would be able to tell from these that it's a miracle she's up and walking around, much less alive at all, given the extent of injuries that would have caused these scars.
DEMEANOR: Grace is somewhat of a shrinking violet; shy, quiet, and hesitant to say or do anything which might cause offense. She will ask a gentle question rather than make a hard statement, every time. Her friends consider her to have a kind, helpful nature, but she can be too soft-- an emotional pushover, easy to deceive with a kind word and a friendly smile.
She's used to being ignored, discounted, steamrolled and manipulated, so she tends to react with an I'm Not Mad, I'm Just Disappointed face and the silent treatment, rather than outright anger or lashing out, and redirecting her anguish-energy to doing something helpful for others (who are real living people and matter, unlike herself...) until the next time.
Grace is extremely hesitant to discuss her own feelings and is intensely private, having learned early that no one cares about that sort of thing and many people find it repulsive to be exposed to-- but she herself loves Other People's Drama, often watching and even inserting herself into conflicts she shouldn't, out of a compulsive need to be involved and helpful. Surely someone at some point will want her help, right?

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: All the big usual ones (racism, genocide, misogyny, etc.), but also Grace is extremely sensitive to her extensive scarring being commented on in a negative way. She takes care to cover herself so most people aren't aware of her scars, but anyone who finds out about them insulting her about them is buying themselves a one-way ticket to Uncontrollably Sobbing Ghost Town.
INTERACTIONS
MAGIC: No limitations-- definitely contact me OOCly if you have a particular result you want that might interact with her abilities in some way and we can try and make it happen. I love shenanigans!!
MENTAL: No limits! In fact, Grace has possibly fewer resistances to mental manipulation than normal humans ought to have. Her "Spirit" is so weird/out of sync with her corporeal form that it causes some issues with Keeping Things Where They Ought To Be, so feel free to get some stray emotions and thoughts now and then-- or just creepy ghosty whispering and howling and hissing and the like.
MIMICRY: Go for it! Could be fun, considering her body image issues. Expect a negative reaction ICly, though!
INTIMACY: YES PLEASE look Grace is intensely shy and un-used to physical affection. This girl did not get hugs from Mom and Dad, even BEFORE everyone she ever met started treating her like a creepy ghost. It's not gonna go well at first. Expect to have to peel a lotta layers off this onion before you get to the tootsie roll center. Casual-Touchers are gonna get rebuffed a lot. Nothing personal! Grace just doesn't know what you want from her and it might be dangerous if she accidentally shifts and someone touches her unexpectedly, and oh god what if you feel a scar??? Don't touch her, she's gross!!!
VIOLENCE: You can certainly try; she'll probably go incorporeal and skedaddle, if possible. If she can't without putting others in danger (going through another person while incorporeal does not end well for that person and Grace will avoid it unless absolutely necessary to save her life), she'll try to fly away. If that doesn't work, well... she's probably hosed. Grace is, uh, not a fighter. Have fun beating up a defenseless li'l ghostie, butthead :(
OTHER: Generally I'm up for anything, but if there's anything Generally Controversial you'd like to do to/around/with/for/because of Grace, please let me know ahead of time so we can talk about it! My door is always open.
